The first 21 hours have been amazing. Upon arriving home, Harry was very timid, wanting to do little else than cuddle. Every object, every room, every space appeared daunting to him. He had one minor freak out and toilet accident in his crate, but only normal whimpering and crying after that. Luckily, night #1 was a complete night’s sleep for him. We didn’t have to get up once! Hopefully this continues.

One small concern I had was that he wasn’t eating or drinking, perhaps out of anxiety. We were also starting to wonder if this dog was permanently going to want to stay on a person’s lap, scared of the world forever.

Well, this morning, Harry had breakfast, a good run around the yard, and, of course, some big time cuddles. He already appears comfortable being lead by the leash, and we’re happy that there’s a certain natural flow to him. It truly feels meant to be.
